The Russians apparently are going to investigate whether the US moon landings were faked:
This should be a slam dunk. There were five landings, and each of them left junk on the moon ... including at least one laser rangefinder. All we have to do is train our telescopes on these five sites, and we should be able to verify the junk is still there.
End of story.
On the other hand ...
Do you remember that the Hubble telescope was launched with a serious optical "flaw"? When I first learned of this, I suspected the flaw had been intentional, to prevent the telescope from seeing certain things someone did not want it to see. Perhaps the "moon landing" sites fall into this category.
Yeah, I know - "solving" one conspiracy theory by proposing another is kinda dumb, but that's the world we live in.
