One Way Government Helps The Rich

There is nothing inevitable about patent and copyright protection; these monopolies exist as a result of government policy. The fact that Bill Gates and many others have gotten hugely rich as a result of these protections is a result of government policy, not an inevitable outcome of technological progress.

Here is what the US Constitution says on the subject:

Article I, Section 8
8: (The Congress shall have Power) To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;

So it's CONGRESS that has made Gates and other tech titans rich. And not surprisingly, they are the people who pull the strings of our so-called "electoral process".
