Russian Submarine Drones ???

In a former life I earned my gold dolphins on USS Nautilus (SSN 571), the world's first nuclear submarine.

When I see reports like this one, it makes me wonder:

Russia conducted a test of a revolutionary nuclear-capable drone submarine that poses a major strategic threat to U.S. ports and harbors.

You can read the rest @

It is extremely difficult to communicate with underwater vessels, drones included. If these drones are semi-autonomous, how are they communicating with the launch vehicle?

If they are not, or if they are communicating via wire, then they are just another torpedo ... albeit a very big torpedo.

Or is this just another "OMG, the Russians are EVIL, and we have to do something to stop them" story?

In any event, I do not consider Russia to be a threat. They really never have been. They've got better things to do than to mess with us.
