The Other America

As long as the problems of the poor are not radically resolved by rejecting the absolute autonomy of markets and financial speculation and by attacking the structural causes of inequality, no solution will be found for the world’s problems or, for that matter, to any problems.
Pope Francis I, Laudato Si

I completely agree with the Pope.

Democrats and Republicans, and all those who hold fast to the divine status of the market, clearly do not want a national discussion about free markets, capitalism, and those for whom free markets are really designed to serve. This is why the richest 1% in the United States is alarmingly concerned about Bernie Sanders, a democratic socialist who has gained serious political momentum in electoral politics with his success in Iowa and New Hampshire. What elites fear is that the problems associated with capitalism, and the rationale for their elite status, will reveal that the outcomes of the unfettered market result in class warfare. And all of this has captivated America’s youth, who remain transfixed on Sanders’ message of radical inequality and the subversion of democratic governance through Citizens United.

I can understand why the rich don't want this to be discussed. What I cannot understand is why those who support the rich don't want to talk about it either, and that includes the military, the police, the judiciary, and just about everyone I know in the middle class.

Are we so in love with the scraps the rich throw us from their banquet table that we can't see how they manage to keep that table covered with sumptuous delights? It's OUR food they gorge themselves upon, and they haven't "earned" it any more than has the poorest person living on the street.

The rich aren't trying to find better ways to feed, clothe, or house We The People. They ARE, however, feverishly trying to come up with ways to get rid of us. You better wake up to that fact ... and soon. Once TPP, TTIP, TISA, and the rest become law and the apparatus to enforce them is put in place, we will have no rights, no wealth, and no way to extricate ourselves from the prison they are building for us.

"Class warfare"? We're already in the thick of class warfare. The rich are at war with We The People, and we are losing big time. Like John Paul Jones, some may claim that "we have not yet begun to fight", but from my perspective it looks like we're NEVER going to fight.

And to those of you who think we're going to vote our way out of this mess, I say this:

The Master's tools will NEVER dismantle the Master's house.
