The Silent Coup Against Nixon

Here is a revealing review of two books by Len Colodny, including Silent Coup:

I read Silent Coup when it first came out, and I would recommend it to anyone truly interested in what Watergate was all about.

Here are two related questions worth considering:

(1) Why is so-called investigative reporter Bob Woodward such a "hero", when others who reveal government secrets (e.g., Assange, Manning, Snowden, etc.) are considered to be spies and/or traitors?

(2) Why did Nixon refuse to reveal and deal with the military coup against him? Was it because he was part of the conspiracy to kill JFK, a conspiracy in which the military was also a participant? Was that conspiracy the subject matter of the tapes which were deliberately erased? Or, if Nixon knew the military had killed JFK, was he worried they would do the same thing to him?
