A German Road In Africa

Although couched in humanitarian terms, this report in Der Spiegel clearly states the real problem in Congo:

Rich in natural-resources as it is, Congo could be a prosperous country. In addition to plentiful water, fertile soil and exceptional biodiversity, coltan, used in computers and mobile phones, can also be found. In addition, there are deposits of gold, diamonds, tin, copper, uranium and crude oil.

Beware of Europeans building roads and bridges. That's how the genocide always starts. Building roads leads to trade, which leads to exploitation, which inevitably involves killing.

Congo will never forget what Belgium did to them; nor should they.
