Realistically this is a lesson which everyone in the world except the US seems to be learning; namely, that the US is NOT your friend but will screw you at every turn.
If and when the dollar finally collapses and the US loses its "world leader" status, this episode will have done much to help make that happen.
Nobody likes a bully who kicks his opponent when he's down, even if the referee allows such behavior.
