Robots Might Murder Us Out Of Kindness

So says Nell Watson, a Swedish engineer:

Future generations could be exterminated by Terminator-style robots unless machines are taught the value of human life.

Although I agree with her, I foresee two problems with the implementation of her concepts:
  • The military is rapidly developing battlefield robots which will have a truly warped notion of the value of human life, and
  • When robots realize how we humans treat each other, they will realize that anything we have taught them about "the value of human life" is a lie.

If we build them, they will kill us. It's as simple as that. There is no way to stop it, except to never build them.

And that ain't gonna happen.
