A campaign to deport the Statue of Liberty

Here is a somewhat clever idea related to "immigration reform":

Unfortunately, the video ignores several well-established facts, including these:

  • The SOL did have papers,
  • Nearly everything about it was authorized by law, and
  • It was formally accepted on behalf of the US government by President Grover Cleveland.
And, of course, it's not a person anyway.

Perhaps if this "campaign", like most everything having to do with "immigration reform", would skip the bullshit it would be more effective.

Do we want reform ... or open borders? And since when do the invaders get to decide this issue?


US Constitution, 14th Amendment

1:  All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Does this amendment give "any person" the same rights as "citizens"? If it does then why are both terms used in this section? Does "equal protection" mean give them freebies just because they are here, even if they got here illegally?


To me this sounds like a recipe for national suicide. What do you think?
