The dangers of cyborgs

The world is rushing headlong toward the day when humans and machines will combine into a new organism. There's even a name for the blessed event ... "The Singularity". We've all seen movies about cyborgs (e.g., The Terminator) and robots (e.g., I, Robot), and now we're being treated to TV shows along a similar vein (e.g., Almost Human).

Although Ray Kurzweil, Sergey Brin, and others think this is a great idea, I have my doubts.

Realistically, the new organism will be infinitely more intelligent and powerful than a standard human being. If you don't think we're "useless eaters" yet, just wait until after The Singularity occurs.

And in a prophetic vein, I'm worried even more that The Singularity will lead to the rise of the Antichrist and the False Prophet. Cyborgs will be to us like demigods were to the Greeks and Romans. It is likely that they will want to be worshiped and that they will extinguish anyone who refuses to worship them.

Does that sound familiar?

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
Revelation 13:14-15 KJV
