Secrecy in government - what's the point?

It seems to me that only someone with something to hide would be obsessed with secrecy:

Please note that every whistleblower that Obama ad-Dajjal has persecuted was telling us about the lies and/or the crimes of Obama ad-Dajjal and his minions ... and NOT compromising national security in any other way.

If the public had open access to ALL information, we could protect ourselves from the so-called terrorists. Can you name a SINGLE major terrorist attack that the government has protected us from (with the exception of the phony attackes instigated by the FBI itself)?

This obsessive secrecy serves no purpose other than to shield government liars and criminals from justice.
