On the other hand, the lions will still die ... from starvation rather than shooting.
But I'm sure they won't mind being tricked by humans again. It's that "survival of the fittest" thing: works every time.
Until the "fittest" creature kills all the others and has nothing left to eat. Then it dies, too.
The ultimate survival of the fittest requires cooperation, not competition. Long-term survival requires a balanced, diverse ecosystem, something that existing human competitive practices do not permit.
So, who's clever now? Lions will never invent flashing lights, but they don't kill all their food supply, either.
