The Presidential Oath

Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution requires the following from the President:

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Take note that the required oath does not contain the words “so help me God”; in fact the word “God” appears nowhere in the Constitution.  Why is that?

The Framers of the Constitution were well aware of what is written in the Bible. The following passages from the New Testament influenced what they wrote in our Constitution:

Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
(Matthew 5:33-37 KJV)

Being good Christians themselves, the Framers realized that anything like “so help me God” would not be appropriate language for a Christian: in fact it is forbidden by Christ Himself. But George Washington decided to add that phrase when he took the oath, and all subsequent Presidents have followed his example.

Does adding the words “so help me God” to the oath strengthen it or invalidate it? According to Jesus, “whatsoever is more than these (Yea, yea; Nay, nay) cometh of evil”.

In my view, as supported by scripture, all Presidents have invalidated their oaths. Obama ad-Dajjal will soon continue the tradition.

And if you consider carefully what most of them have done and will do, their actions do indeed cometh of evil. They even tell you so right from the beginning.
